The Proof is in the Pudding!
Here’s why we are the most trusted name in Transmission Service
John and your team,
Thank you so much for your attention to detail and prompt service!
With 1500 miles ahead of us, we were about to drive home, only to hear an awful noise. You and your team were able to get my vehicle in as soon as possible, and kept me informed through the entire process. In the end, you even showed me the parts that were replaced!
My family and I were able to get home safely, and the Mountaineer ran great!
It was the worst news your mechanic can give you--“I think it is the transmission.” Next was the decision to buy a new vehicle or fix my husband’s beloved truck. Deciding whether we would begin another round of new car payments or invest in our truck that had been babied since the beginning of its life was not difficult.
Our mechanic recommended Northampton Transmission and it was the beginning of the most positive experience that could come out of an undesirable situation. First and foremost, John and Ed are honest and professional! We were consulted throughout the entire process. We were shown the damaged parts and took back possession of our “good as new” truck.
Nearly a year later, we had a shifting problem. We returned the truck and were prepared for the worst. The vehicle had to be taken apart and worked on for two days. I nervously awaited the charges. Yes, it was under warranty, but certainly there would be some “catch” since it was indeed, nearly a year later. I was informed the truck was ready to be picked up and waited for the answer to the dreaded question of cost.
John’s response was, “There is no charge. It is under our warranty.” It is when you are treated respectfully and honestly the year AFTER that especially indicates honesty and integrity! John and Ed, thanks SO much!!!
Honesty goes far
I brought my jeep with 145k on it and thought i needed a new transmission. Before working on it they said don't get worried yet let us take a look at it first. Sure enough after they looked at it it was only a minor repair and saved us allot of money.
I never met such honest people. Go here if you have a transmission problem.
Thank you guys!!!
Graduation was approaching and I needed to move cross-country with my Buick soon afterwards, but it just wasn't driving right. I brought it in to Northampton Transmission, and John called me back the same morning with my options. The necessity of a transmission replacement aside, doing business with John, Ed, and the others at Northampton Transmission was an absolute pleasure. They told me exactly what the issue was and laid out my options with clear, even-handed explanations of price, warranty, and efficacy. I was concerned about timing as well as a few persistent, non-transmission-related issues, and they worked with me to make sure I had a car when I needed it, and one which could get me home safely to boot. A huge thanks to Northampton Transmission from the other end of the Buick's grand road trip!
Honest, courteous, professional. The garage is clean and the waiting area comfortable. They did the work quickly and correctly while saving me hundreds over a dealership estimate. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

First, each one the previous testimonials are accurate. I bought my first used engine and had it installed into my taxi in 1975. I’ve worked for numerous car dealers and am very familiar with the aftermarket auto repair. When we had issues with our transmission we called Northampton Transmission. When it was determined that our transmission had to be removed, Curt, Northampton Transmissions technician pointed out a number of things that were wrong from when the cars engine had been replaced recently. Bolts were missing and several scattered around the engine compartment. The rear engine mount was not even bolted down. The list seemed endless…where to start?? Well it was determined that due to the vehicles age we would replace the transmission with a used transmission. So, I found a transmission on the internet, and that turned out to be nearly disastrous. The transmission I ordered arrived with a crack in the case. Everything that could go wrong was going wrong. Chris, Northampton Transmissions builder, physically showed me why my transmission was shot. However these guys were able to use my old case ½ and put the entire assembly from the newer transmission into the old case. In the process they changed all the seals, shift cables etc. etc. Yes, it did cost me a bunch, however we loved the car and it had to be done. I witnessed it. Believe me there were no secrets here. Ed and John coordinated parts like pros. These guys ought to hold seminars to other garages on how to run an auto repair shop. They’re the real deal. Their shop is clean as a whistle. They are honest, forthright, responsive and most of all they do what they say they'll do, professionally. Most importantly, they take pride in they're work. Quite frankly I was stunned! They didn't have to be this good! Thank you, John, Ed, Chris, and Curt. It’s hard to believe Rosie runs so great! Yes there is life after Rosie. It was a pleasure to do business with you guys.
Well, Nobody wants to buy a transmission, so when my truck started acting up I took it to Northampton transmission where I had done business in the past.
John and the guys were great, explained everything and kept me up to date. I'm very pleased and would recommend them highly!
Thank You Guys
We were taking our camper from SC to Vt when it broke down. Once the problem was found, it was towed to North Hampton Transmissions where the mechanics did a great job rebuilding our 1995 Shasta. Their attitude, prices, and their work was beyond reproach.
I would recommend this business to anyone who needs transmission services.
Thank you guys for the great service which allowed us to still enjoy some of our annual vacation
